Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church in Oak Park, a vibrant congregation with a strong representation across generations and a commitment to engaging the neighborhood and all members in the life of the congregation, is seeking a church organist to play the organ and piano at all scheduled services of worship and rehearsals in support of worship at Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church.
Specific Responsibilities:
- To play music for all worship services. Services currently held include:
- Sunday worship at 10:00 a.m.
- Christmas Eve 4:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.
- Ash Wednesday 7:00 p.m.
- Maundy Thursday 7:00 p.m.
- To play music for all adult choir rehearsals. Rehearsals currently held include:
- Two Thursdays per month from September to May at 7:30 p.m.
- Two Sundays per month from September to May at 9:00 a.m.
- To play music for memorials (~4 per year) to be scheduled in consultation with the organist, pastor, and the family of the deceased.
- To rehearse with soloists, ensembles and instrumentalists, as necessary
Skills Required:
1. Ability to play church organ
2. Ability to play other keyboard instruments
3. The ability to accompany a choir and work collegially with choir leaders and other musicians
Working Relationships:
The church organist will be a salaried employee of the church and will work directly with the music directors and closely with the Worship Committee and the pastors.
