About Fair Oaks

Our Mission Statement

The congregation of Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church is called by God to PROCLAIM by word and deed the good news of our savior Jesus Christ, to NURTURE children, youth and adults into Christian faith and discipleship, and to SERVE, in Christ’s name, the Oak Park community and beyond.

Our mission statement, which was approved in 1997 and reaffirmed in 2007, serves to guide and inform this congregation as we live out the imperatives of the gospel and live as a community of faith in the 21st century. Among our many gifts, we are most fortunate to have a warm, caring and deeply committed membership. Since the church’s beginnings in 1924, it has had as a hallmark its welcoming and friendly atmosphere, both for adults and children. Visitors to Fair Oaks can see that our church members genuinely care for one another. This provides a welcoming atmosphere that is contagiously attractive and creates an atmosphere of welcome and hospitality.

Fair Oaks has a strong and experienced professional staff who feels called to serve at Fair Oaks. Our Elders, Deacons, teachers and program leaders are dedicated and gifted. An enthusiastic spirit and a willingness to make a difference are pervasive at Fair Oaks. We recognize that it may seem as if there is always too much work to do, but we have fun doing it together anyway. We trust in God and God’s promises and believe that God is calling us to expand our community of faith while we seek to maintain the strong sense of community that makes Fair Oaks so special.

The members of Fair Oaks are committed to reaching beyond our doors through local and global mission. Total mission giving represents over 13% of our budget. We support missionaries in Thailand, South Africa and Cuba, having embarked on mission trips to all three global destinations. Locally, we serve through the Fraternite Notre Dame soup kitchen, Cluster Tutoring, Housing Forward, and Beyond Hunger.
